GOLDEN - Handsome, Happy & Ready to Shine. Golden is a beautiful 2-year-old Shepherd mix with a bright personality, an affectionate nature, and an enthusiasm for life that is impossible to miss. At 54.5 pounds, Golden is a wonderful medium-to-large companion who combines the intelligence of a Shepherd with the joyful energy of a young dog who is excited to experience everything life has to offer. Golden is a social butterfly. He is friendly, confident, outgoing, and genuinely enjoys being around people. He welcomes attention, loves being petted, and handles human interaction very well. There is something wonderfully open about this boy-he seems happy to meet you and even happier when you decide to spend some time with him. And Golden isn't just handsome. He's smart. He already knows 'sit,' responds well to direction, and appears eager to learn. With consistent positive training, he has all the ingredients to become a fantastic companion. He walks fairly well on leash, although he can pull at times, and continued leash work will help him polish his skills. Like many enthusiastic young dogs, Golden can get excited and jump up when greeting people. He isn't trying to be difficult-sometimes his happiness simply arrives before his manners do! A family willing to continue working with him calmly and consistently should see that bright mind put to very good use. Golden recently recovered from an injured foot and may still walk with a slight limp. It certainly hasn't taken away his enthusiasm for people or his enjoyment of life. Golden has not yet been fully tested with other dogs, so his compatibility with canine companions is currently unknown. He should not live with cats due to his prey drive. A home with children age 13 or older is recommended. GOLDEN AT A GLANCE: 2-year-old Shepherd mix. 54.5 lbs. Neutered and ready to go home. Affectionate, friendly and outgoing. Social butterfly. Smart and eager to learn. Knows 'sit'. Enjoys attention and petting. Walks fairly well on leash; may pull. Jumpy when excited. Dog compatibility needs further evaluation. No cats. Kids 13+. Would benefit from continued manners and leash training. Golden has been waiting at Upland Animal Shelter since May 16, 2026. Behind those good looks is a young dog with so much potential-a friendly, intelligent boy who wants interaction, guidance, affection, and a chance to belong. Golden doesn't need someone expecting a perfectly finished dog. He needs someone who sees the wonderful dog already there and is willing to help him put the finishing touches on his manners. Give Golden that chance, and you may discover that the most golden thing about him isn't his name. It's his heart. Golden Animal ID: IEPA-A-19070. Upland Animal Shelter Upland, California.
