German Shepherd
Age: Puppy

Hi, I'm Laguna. I'm a year and 8 months old. The shelter had said she is a husky mix, but some simple research leads me to believe she is a Czech working-line GSD. I'm 60 lbs and spayed. Friendly, intelligent, athletic, and loving. She's a high-energy girl. She has no problem chilling around in the house with you and will snooze for hours on end, but she needs at least an hour outside; more is best. Having time off leash to run and to sniff unhindered by the leash is her favorite activity. She is also a loving pup who attaches to you and cuddles. Laguna also has struggles that require you to have time, dedication, patience, and love for. She struggles with being on leash. She has trouble with impulse control, reactivity to the bustling life around her, and a lot of tugging to get to where she wants to go. She needs consistent training for this so walks are easier for human and dog. I will be giving you her training leash to make your life easier, so you do not start with a regular lead. Laguna's biggest issue is her biting. Don't let this scare you; she has no aggression towards you. This is puppy biting ingrained into her; she has no bite inhibition, and she feels that she is playing around when she is biting. However, this can turn into a problem with guests who don't want to be bitten by a large dog, or when she decides it's time to latch onto your arm, which can cause pain. When I first got her, the biting was more frequent on our outings, but over time she has bitten less. Laguna loves people and dogs. She struggles with reactivity to dogs due to her high energy that has nowhere to go; she sees a dog and immediately wants to go after. Meeting up with another dog usually ends in her initiating play. She has a hunting instinct, so cats are a no-go. She knows how to sit. She can heel if you can get her to focus on you. She likes to have her food thrown on the ground so she can sniff around for it; she is a sniffer. I got her from a shelter in June, and I really think she needs a better home than I can give her. Our energy levels and needs are different. Laguna needs someone active and willing to play or do training or anything mentally stimulating every day, for 2 hours or more. I take her outside for an hour and 30+ minutes, every day, but she has destructive behaviors when I leave her alone for work. Research about the breed makes me think I'm not stimulating her enough and she's bored with what I give her. She needs more. Please respond only if you are willing to put in the work for this girl.
