Charlie is looking for the right home-one where his intelligence, energy, and affectionate nature can thrive. A healthy, smart, energetic 3-year-old Border Collie who needs an active, experienced home with the time to give him plenty of exercise, engagement, and consistent structure. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, completely housebroken, and has no known medical or dietary needs. He has never been destructive in the home and limits his chewing to his own toys. He completed an intensive six-week obedience training program and learned quickly. He readily sits, stays, drops toys on command, and goes willingly to his crate. He is crate trained and generally very well behaved. His current family's busy work, school, and sports schedule simply hasn't allowed them to consistently reinforce his training or give him the activity he needs. He is also very affectionate and considers himself a lap dog-even though he doesn't quite fit! He has enjoyed playing with the children in his family and their friends and has generally been loving and gentle with them. He is alert, watchful, and protective of his family. He bit the father in his current family once without an apparent provocation and, on a separate occasion, attempted to bite him. At other times, Charlie has been affectionate, playful, and gentle with him. Charlie needs an experienced, committed person or family who can provide consistent leadership, reinforce his training, give him plenty of physical and mental activity, and help this bright, affectionate dog reach his full potential.
