STOVE NEEDS A FOSTER OR ADOPTER BY OCTOBER 3 TO SECURE HIS RIDE TO WISCONSIN Stove is currently at a kill shelter in Georgia and needs a FOSTER or ADOPTER to secure his spot on the transport to Cedarburg, WI with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on Saturday, October 3. A committed home is required for him to make the trip. Without a foster or adopter, Stove will not be able to come to Wisconsin. Meet Stove Stove is a 2-year-old Heeler/Shepherd mix (best guess)weighing around 50 pounds who is ready for a fresh start. He originally came into the shelter as a stray, but we later learned that his previous owner had been advertising him on Facebook Marketplace as a 'free stove' because they were having a baby. We reached out to the owner, but they deleted the listing and stopped responding. Thankfully, Stove now has a chance to leave that situation behind and find the loving home he deserves. Stove is a handsome, affectionate boy who really enjoys being close to his person. He is great with other dogs and is very tolerant, even when other dogs are being a little annoying! He has a friendly, easygoing personality and would likely enjoy having a canine companion. Stove is working on his leash manners but is not terrible on leash. He also has decent car manners and did well riding in the car to his neuter appointment. He is likely potty trained from previously living in a home. Stove has shown a tendency to want to chase cats, so we believe a cat-free home would be the best fit for him. He has not had the opportunity to live with children, but he has been friendly with all people and we believe he would do well with respectful kids. Stove is a sweet, handsome boy who just wants to stay close to his people and be part of a family. He has so much potential and deserves the chance to leave the shelter and start his new life! Apply: Fill out adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents. 2.)Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email. 3.)Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: after approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5 day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit. 4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue. 5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process we conduct a home visit either in person or via zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have. 6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse $125 for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. We recommend going to HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI for the most affordable option.
