They told me I was 41 pounds. I'm not sure what that number means to you. But for a Rottweiler, it meant I was barely there. There wasn't much left of me when I was rescued. I was severely malnourished, painfully thin, and quite literally just bones. | And the saddest part? I wasn't even sure I was supposed to expect anything better. I was cautious. Quiet. Unsure of people and unsure of the world. But then somebody fed me. And fed me again. And again. Somebody gave me a warm bed. They gave me time. They didn't ask me to trust them before I was ready. And somewhere along the way, something happened that nobody could have predicted when I first walked through that door'| I started becoming Atlas. ٴ And let me tell you, Atlas is actually a pretty great guy. %9D%A4%8F I'm a big, sensitive, loyal Rottweiler with a surprisingly goofy side. ٪ I like to know what my people are doing at all times, ' so if you get up from your chair, I'm probably getting up too. Where are we going? What are we doing? Do you need me? What's happening? I'm basically the neighborhood watch, except my neighborhood is your living room. %8F Once I trust you, I bond deeply. I want to be near you, I want to know where you are, and I want to be part of whatever you're doing. And if I bring you my toy ٤ and carefully place it directly in your lap? That is not an accident. That is an official invitation to TUG. I LOVE tug. Sometimes I even add a dramatic Rottweiler growl to the experience because apparently every good game needs a soundtrack. But when playtime is over? I am a professional napper. %A4 I'll curl up on my dog bed while you work and happily snooze the day away. I enjoy my walks and getting out to explore, but I'm not looking for a family who thinks every day needs to be an adventure. Give me a good walk, some mental stimulation, a little playtime, and a calm home, and I'm pretty happy. S I'm also a very good passenger. s I ride beautifully in the car, walk really nicely on leash, and know my basic commands. I'm smart, too. ٤%A0 Very smart. Which is why I occasionally like to make sure my people actually mean what they say. You tell me 'stay.' I look at you. ' You look at me. I look at you. And then I think'| But what if I just'| didn't? I'm still learning some things. Strangers can make me nervous, especially if they come at me too quickly. I do best with people who understand that trust takes time and who let me decide when I'm ready to say hello. I also need a home that isn't chaotic or constantly overwhelming. I'm a big dog, and I'm still learning how to navigate the world confidently. But look at how far I've already come. ٴ I went from 41 pounds and just bones'| to a healthy, beautiful Rottweiler who brings toys to his foster family because he wants them to play with him. That transformation means everything. S I live with another male Rottweiler and a cat, %90'%8D and I've done well with both. I could happily live with another compatible dog, or I could be your one and only. What I really need is someone patient and consistent. Someone who understands Rottweilers. Someone who will give me structure without being harsh. Someone who will keep showing me that the world is a safe place. And someone who will look at this big, goofy face and understand that there is a very soft heart underneath it. %9D%A4%8F NOW I NEED YOU. I have already been given the second chance so many dogs never get. I survived being 41 pounds. I survived being just bones. I learned how to trust. I learned how to play. I learned that people can be good. But foster was never supposed to be my forever home. Somewhere out there is the person who is going to look at my story and say, 'That's my dog.' Not 'maybe.' Not 'let's see how it goes.' Not 'he's a beautiful dog, but'|' My dog. %9D%A4%8F If you have the patience to earn my trust, the experience to handle a big Rottweiler, and the heart to give a dog like me the forever I've been waiting for'| I'm ready to meet you. ٴ Please don't let my story end with another foster home. Let it end with a front door that opens, a bed that is mine, and a family that chooses me. Love, Atlas Kevin %9D%A4%8F Oh, Kevin is my middle name. Only use it when we are being serious! ٤%90 https://www.realrottweilerrescue.com/dogs/atlas-uc3p
