About Bear

- Bear - Bear is a sweet, energetic young Australian Shepherd looking for a new home that is a better fit for his needs. He is neutered, crate trained, and knows basic commands. He is very smart, playful, affectionate, and loves being outside and following his people around. He has a lot of energy and would do best with someone who has experience with herding breeds and is willing to continue working with him. Bear is approximately 1�%BD years old and around 45-50 lbs. He is house trained and comfortable in a crate. He has a big personality and can be goofy and affectionate, but he can also become overstimulated and needs someone who understands dog behavior and can give him structure, exercise, and consistent boundaries. Important: Bear has had a few incidents of nipping when he became frustrated or overstimulated, including two recent incidents involving our children that broke the skin. Because of this, we are looking for an experienced home that is comfortable managing and training a dog with these behaviors. We do not want to place him somewhere that isn't prepared for that responsibility. He can be mouthy and excitable during play and needs continued training with jumping, pulling, impulse control, and appropriate interactions. A home without young children may be the safest and best fit for him. This is an extremely difficult decision for our family. We love Bear and want to find him a home where he can thrive rather than keeping him in a situation that isn't working for everyone.
