Rehoming 'Maggie-Moo' - 3.5 yo Parti Standard Poodle (female, unaltered). Lubbock, TX. (relocation available within a 4 hour drive) Trained as a service dog for one woman who had been poisoned. Incredibly loving and protective as the woman was unable to walk. Sweet and tightly bonded. Recently began resource-guarding when a new partner entered the home (snapped at his face, charged at food and feet, blocked bedroom). I am now able to walk and had retired her from helping me. The new partner is from Australia, and there is no place for him to go to so that we can take the time to get Maggie to change her mind. This is utterly heartbreaking for me. She has NOT drawn blood, but the deeper issue is this: My partner and I are moving onto a boat in weeks for a work project; cannot keep her safely. This is URGENT to find a home, or I will be forced to take her to the pound, as we are both aware that she is afraid of my partner and guarding me against him. She is afraid of him getting anywhere near me. Needs one experienced adult, quiet home, no kids, no new competing partner. Honest history given to every inquiry. The price is whatever your vet will charge to alter her. You can come meet her, but I will ONLY deliver her to a vet to be spayed and explain to the vet that the spay is the cost of rehoming. I LOVE this dog. We have no other choice as she believes that she is protecting me. IF a rescue agency responds, I know they will spay her, so the spay fee is not required. She has all her service gear, plus a 50lb bag of dogfood, and her potty pad. She is trained to an indoor pad.
