About Blake

Blake's story started with heartbreak, but we're determined to make sure it ends with the kind of home he's always deserved. Blake was found dumped on the side of the road with his family in rural Talladega. As if being abandoned wasn't enough, Blake had also been hit by a car. His injuries were severe enough that one of his legs had to be amputated. Physically, Blake has adjusted beautifully to life as a tripod. Emotionally, some of those scars have taken a little longer to heal. Blake is a Lab mix with the gentlest soul. He can be shy and nervous with new people and needs a little time to decide that he's safe. But there is not an aggressive bone in this boy's body. Give him patience, stability and the chance to trust you, and you'll find an incredibly sweet dog underneath all that uncertainty. He does well in a crate and needs a calm, understanding home that won't expect too much too quickly. Blake is not a match for a home with cats. He isn't going to be the dog who runs across the room and jumps into a stranger's lap. Blake needs someone willing to earn his trust. Someone who understands that sometimes the dogs who make you work a little harder for their heart are the ones who give you the biggest piece of it.
