About Tank

Meet Tank !! This handsome younger guy is a very sweet boy. Eager to please and looking for another best friend to devote all of his time to. Tank belonged to our founders neighbor. He passed away suddenly and the family asked us to help tank find a new home. Tank was only with his owner for a few months but he brought him so much joy and happiness. Since arriving here he has been adapting quickly and has been a loving happy boy. He is an approx 1 year old and male. He was said to be a Lab/Pit mix but his build and look favor more of a Pit/Hound mix but it's just a guess. He weighs 58 pounds and is close to full grown. Tank will be vaccinated, dewormed, neutered, and given a microchip as part of his adoption. He is on monthly preventatives. He has been very well behaved since we took him in. He was so good at the vet and let them do all the vaccines and blood draws without any issues. He is loving and happy to meet everyone. He can be a touch shy at first but that fades quickly. Tank has been working on all of his house manners. He is learning quickly. He has done fairly well on the leash despite not doing much leash walking before. He is fairly gentle with the leash only pulling if he wants to smell something or gets excited. He is great on car rides but is a bit afraid getting in. He was never crated before but picked it up fast. He is quiet and content in the kennel. He was needing a little push to go in but now has started going in when asked (he expects a treat for his efforts lol) He seems to be mostly potty trained and does not have any accidents in his crate. He is, however, still marking his territory a lot and needs to be watched. He has an upcoming neuter that should fully resolve that issue. Tank loves all the dogs he has met so far. He seems to be good at playing with the playful ones and leaving the others alone. He has met dogs of all sizes including other unfixed males and has had no issues with any of them. He loves to run around the yard being chased, or chasing another dog. He has never been around cats so we have no idea how he would do. He is not fostered with young kids but we think he would likely do fine with them. He has a very laid back sweet demeanor. He met a 13yr old at the vet and was wonderful with her. He does occasionally try to jump up on you. It is not usually hard but more of a hug type of jumping. That may scare or knock over little ones. He has been doing a lot less of that with corrections, and it is not a major or constant thing for him. Mostly when excited. So far he has a medium energy level. He will need playtime and both mental and physical exercise every day but also has a very chill and cuddly side afterward. He is fine to go run the yard with other dogs a few times a day to get his exercise. He also has no trouble spending a full work day kenneled as long as you give him some playtime and interaction after work. He does think he's a lap dog at times and will climb right up on you to get loved on. We do not feed dogs together to avoid issues however Tank has not shown any issues with his food. He has had dogs near and around his kennel when he is eating without a reaction. He has no trouble sharing toys and treats around other dogs. He takes treats very gently. He's fine with people around his food, toys and treats. Tank seems to be a very sweet, loving boy that is happy and loyal. He needs just a bit of refinement on a few house manners but overall he is learning quickly and easy to manage. If you are looking for a loyal guy then he just might be your man.
