About DJango

Django was found as a stray and brought into a high kill shelter in LA city. He was missing patches of fur and had some wound punctures that appeared to be dog bites on his back left leg. He was very fearful at intake and appeared to be in pain. When reading this, I suspect (especially after knowing and living with Django) he saw another dog and approached it to befriend it and likely was chased away and bit as he retreated. Django was admitted as a stray on June 16th and was fearful, but being the resilient, grateful and happy dog that he is, he eventually gained confidence and became more playful. Even in a high stress environment like an overcrowded shelter in CA in July he adapted and began to thrive. Django was adopted on August 22nd, only to be returned 2 days later. This placed him in a different category 'owner surrender' with bumps dogs up to the top of the euthanasia list. Django was returned for having anxiety in the crate and wanting to escape it. He likely just wanted to be with his new person, and then to be returned two days later just reinforced any separation anxiety he was dealing with. Django has been with us about 3 weeks now and his crate training/approach to the crate has changed 95% for the better. (5% he just doesn't want to go in, but somebody has to work to pay the bills around here. Haha) He is gaining confidence and interacts well with occasional verbal corrections when playing with the other dogs. Django is the sweetest boy that deserves someone to love him and show him that humans can be loyal and trustworthy. He is an amazing dog that is capable of so much.
