Meet Jellybean Jellybean is a one-year-old Australian Shepherd mix weighing 50 pounds, a just-right size for someone looking for a dog who can keep up without taking over the house. Jellybean loves other dogs and has a particularly fun time with the resident dog in her foster home. The two enjoy wrestling, chasing each other around the yard, and generally finding ways to keep each other entertained. Jellybean also enjoys neighborhood walks and playing fetch in the yard. Jellybean is a sensitive girl who takes a little time to decide that new people and new situations are safe. She is shy when meeting someone new and tends to feel more comfortable with women initially. Once she knows you, though, you get to see the sweet, playful dog underneath that cautious first impression. She isn't the dog who will barrel into a room greeting everyone. She's more of a 'let me watch this for a minute and decide what I think' kind of girl. Because Jellybean is sensitive and can become overwhelmed by activity and unpredictability, we are looking for an adult home or a home with older, dog-savvy children. She should not go to a home with young kids. A quieter environment where she can approach people on her own terms will give her the best chance to feel comfortable and become the confident dog we know she can be. Because anxiety can make new situations harder for her, we started Jellybean on Fluoxetine to help take the edge off. It has been a helpful addition to her routine, and the cost is approximately $12 per month. Her future family will need to be comfortable continuing her medication and giving her the time and consistency she needs to feel secure. Despite her Australian Shepherd mix heritage, Jellybean is surprisingly low-key. She doesn't need a house full of activities or someone inventing a new job for her every afternoon. A calm home, a predictable routine, regular walks and playtime, and people who understand that confidence takes time are much more her speed. We would love to see Jellybean adopted into a home with another friendly, playful dog. Having a confident canine companion helps her feel more secure and gives her someone to follow, play with, learn from, and eventually curl up beside. A physically fenced yard is required. Jellybean isn't looking for an escape adventure, but having a secure outdoor space where she can explore, play, and relax without worrying about the world beyond the fence will help her continue building confidence. Jellybean is looking for someone who understands that the quiet, cautious dog you meet at first isn't the whole story. Give her time, patience, a canine buddy, and a predictable place to call home, and you'll get to watch her personality unfold. Once Jellybean decides you're her person, she has plenty of sweetness, silliness, and loyalty to share. Jellybean is both crate trained and potty trained.
