I recently came back to Pawfect Life after spending a couple of weeks in a home, and my time there helped everyone understand me a little better. The biggest thing to know about me is that I'm a very shy girl who needs time, patience, and consistency to feel safe. �'�� My story started in a shelter-less community where I was found after my owner reportedly passed away. I was terrified of people, covered in fleas and ticks, and it's believed that by just 4 years old, I had already given birth to at least five litters of puppies. I spent a lot of my early life surviving, so trusting people and adjusting to unfamiliar environments doesn't come naturally to me yet. �'�� I'm much more comfortable with women and, once I begin to trust you, you'll see the incredibly sweet, affectionate girl underneath all that uncertainty. I bond deeply with the people who make me feel safe and have all the makings of a true Velcro dog. I love being close to my trusted person and just knowing they're there. �'�� Men are much harder for me. I'm scared of most men and generally will not approach them. An all-female home is strongly recommended and would be the easiest environment for me to thrive in. I may eventually be able to adjust to a man living in the home, but that would require someone who truly understands fearful dogs, is willing to give me plenty of space and time, and the home would need to have a securely fenced yard. I'm also scared of the leash right now, so I'm definitely not a dog who wants to pack her bags for road trips, vacations, or busy adventures. I'm a homebody. I need a predictable environment where I can learn the routine, understand what's expected of me, and slowly discover that I'm finally safe. I've spent so much of my life simply trying to survive. I need a calm, predictable home where I can settle in at my own pace without being pushed into situations that scare me. Someone patient enough to let our relationship develop naturally will get to experience something really special: watching a frightened dog slowly realize she's finally home. An all-female household is strongly preferred. I'm not looking for a busy social calendar or someone who wants a dog to accompany them everywhere.
