Candy has a name that suits her perfectly. According to her foster family, she truly is the SWEETEST girl. After spending time in a foster home, we've had the chance to learn so much more about this beautiful German Shepherd mix - and what has emerged is a loving, calm, people-oriented dog who simply wants to be part of someone's life. Candy loves her walks, and peaceful nighttime strolls are a particular favorite. She walks nicely on leash and seems perfectly happy exploring the neighborhood beside her person. Back at home, bring out the toys and she's ready for some fun! But what Candy loves most is her people. She is a true companion dog who enjoys following her humans from room to room, being included in whatever is happening, and staying close to the people she loves. When it's time to relax, this 48-pound girl may even decide that she belongs in your lap. Candy is affectionate without being constantly demanding, playful but also capable of settling down, and she already knows the 'sit' command. Her foster experience has shown us just how much she enjoys the simple pleasures of home life: walks, toys, companionship, affection, and having people of her own. Candy does need the right home to help her thrive. She should be the only dog in the household because she is reactive toward other dogs, and she is not a match for a home with cats. She can also become a little rough during play when she gets excited, so a home with adults or children 13+ who can confidently reinforce appropriate boundaries would be best. For the right person or family, Candy has so much to offer.
