About Franny

Six-month-old Franny arrived at GCAC with a fractured jaw and teeth so damaged that she was barely able to eat, and a hip injury requiring surgery. Because each injury was in different stages of healing, the likely cause is abuse at the hands of a human rather than an accident. Her physical condition and cautious demeanor reflected the trauma she had endured. Following foster placement with our dedicated medical coordinator, Franny underwent hip surgery and dental extractions and started months of physical and emotional rehabilitation. A few weeks ago she managed her first tentative step with observable improvement. Now approximately ten months old, Franny demonstrates a renewed confidence after healing, remarkable resilience and an optimistic disposition, embodying the impact of comprehensive veterinary care and compassionate rehabilitation. Franny will require an owner committed to maintaining her ongoing medical care, as these injuries are likely to affect her hips and joints long-term. According to our veterinary team, Franny is expected to need orthopedic support throughout most of her life; however, Franny has the makings of a wonderful family pet. She is a friendly, playful puppy who gets along with everyone, including cats and other dogs. She has plenty of energy, enjoys training, and is motivated by food and toys. She's still building muscle in her hip and leg, and will never be suited for long hikes, but she shows promise as an excellent companion to people and animals alike. She is completely crate and potty trained, loves going for car rides and outings, and walks like an angel on the leash.
