Meet River ��ժ��%90%BE River is a handsome gray tabby boy born around June 2, 2026, with a story that shows just how much love and patience can heal a little heart. When he arrived at Big Bear Rescue on July 5, he was struggling with a severe upper respiratory infection and felt so unsure of the world that he tucked himself under a dresser for about a week, watching from a safe distance while he figured things out. Little by little, River began to trust. He moved to a closet with the door partially open so he could observe the room at his own pace, taking in all the kindness around him. Then, after a couple of weeks of gentle patience, this brave boy climbed right up on the couch, curled onto a shoulder, and decided he was ready to be loved. Today, River is affectionate, social, and full of sweet confidence. He does wonderfully with dogs, other cats, and children, and he has become a true snugglebug who just wants to be near his people. His journey from hiding to shoulder-sitting lap cat is a beautiful reminder of what a second chance can do. River will be neutered by the rescue when he is old enough.
