With his trusted core family, he is incredibly loving, fully house-trained, and perfectly behaved indoors. He has lived seamlessly in a multi-pet household-getting along wonderfully with other dogs and cats-and formed a strong, gentle bond with the children in his family. He is also a tough survivor. After an accident while chasing a rabbit in 2024 resulted in the amputation of his right front leg, Rocky bounced right back without skipping a beat. He remains an active dog who loves going for car rides, hiking on nature trails, or just claiming a large dog bed or a spot on the couch at the end of the day. The Challenge: Rocky's deep loyalty comes with an intensely protective drive. His guarding instincts and territorial nature are severe, manifesting as extreme reactivity and aggression toward strangers and unfamiliar visitors. Unfortunately, this intense 'stranger danger' has resulted in a bite incident involving a neighborhood child that startled him while playing fetch. While it wasn't an emergency incident, it was serious enough. Because he cannot be safely managed in a busy, high-traffic household where people come and go, he can no longer stay in his current home. Ideal Home & Handler: Rocky requires an experienced, confident handler who deeply understands livestock guardian or high-drive working breed temperaments. He is already muzzle-trained and requires strict leash and environmental management to ensure everyone's safety. His necessary environment is a quiet, low-traffic, likely rural setting with no unexpected visitors. In the right, securely managed environment where his world is kept small and predictable, Rocky is a profoundly devoted, affectionate, and rewarding companion.
