About Hugo

Meet Hugo! Meet Hugo, an 8-1/2-year-old Smooth Coat Brussels Griffon who weighs 12 pounds and is discovering that life can be pretty wonderful when you have a soft bed, a clean coat, and people who think you deserve lots of attention. Hugo came to Fur Fun Rescue from the same hoarding/breeder situation as several of our other Brussels Griffons. After spending much of his life in that environment, he is thoroughly enjoying the quieter side of life in his foster home. He loves being clean, comfortable, and, perhaps most importantly, getting plenty of love and attention. Hugo is very happy to be someone's little shadow and doesn't seem to think there is such a thing as too much affection. Hugo does well with both dogs and cats, making him a nice fit for a home with other pets. He is an easygoing little guy who seems perfectly content to hang out with his people and enjoy whatever is happening around him. Hugo had bilateral ulnar osteotomies when he was just over a year old. Because of his orthopedic history, he isn't interested in long walks or tackling huge flights of stairs. He would much rather take a leisurely stroll, explore the yard, and then head back inside for the important business of relaxing. His future home should be comfortable accommodating his limitations and not expect him to be a hiking buddy. Hugo also has a Grade 3-4 heart murmur. His heart is not enlarged, and at this time he does not require medication or other cardiac support. We will want his adopter to keep up with regular veterinary care and monitoring as he gets older. What Hugo really wants at this stage of his life isn't complicated. He wants to be loved, included, comfortable, and appreciated for the sweet little dog he is. After spending years without much individual attention, he is making up for lost time by happily soaking up every bit of affection his foster family has to offer. Hugo is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. He also just had a dental.
