Name: Ally Age: DOB 4/15/15 Breed: Terrier/Pointer mix, 40 pounds Sex: Female (spayed) Location: Orange County, Florida Sweet Ally has recently gone blind and her owner travels frequently for work. Ally goes to multiple homes when he is away and all of those changes aren't helping her adjust to her new normal. Vet Info: Ally has quickly gone blind from glaucoma. She is on 2 drops 2x day. She is current with her vaccinations and HW-. Even with the drops, Ally has been keeping her eyes closed most of the time. She will need to have a double enucleation if these drops don't bring the pressures down to a manageable level. Ally also is on allergy medication - never had allergies when owner lived up north but since moving to Florida, she seems to have environmental allergies that can be managed with medication and occasional medicated shampoo. Ally is not microchipped. She is spayed. Dog Info: Ally is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house. She is house broken and leash trained. Sit and paw are two commands that she knows, but doesn't always respond to. She is a bit nervous, especially since losing her sight. Because the owner travels frequently for work she has several homes that she would stay at. Since going blind, adjusting to so many different surroundings has become quite difficult for her. She needs to be in a more stable environment. Ally is very vocal when someone new enters the home. She will run up to the person's feet and bark and sometimes growl. One she feels comfortable that the person is not there to harm her, she will allow them to pet her. Sometimes she takes a little time to become comfortable. Ally can also give a warning snap if someone touches her in a way that she doesn't like but she has never bitten anyone. She would do best living with adults and older teens, young children are not recommended. Ally has lived with other dogs in the past and has gotten along with them, they do need to be properly introduced, however. Owner is not sure if Ally's interest in other dogs while on walks in public is being playful, inquisitive or aggressive so owner just tends to avoid other dogs. Ally has also lived with a cat and both just kept to themselves and showed no interest in interacting with each other. Ally is currently not doing stairs but owner has been encouraged to try to keep her routine as normal as possible. Ally is a very sweet girl, she just needs some patience adapting to new people and surroundings and stability. **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
