Red has been through a difficult experience that left him more cautious about the world. New people, busy environments, and too much activity can overwhelm him, so he isn't necessarily going to be the dog who bounds up to greet you the moment you meet. But give Red time, respect his boundaries, and let him get to know you at his own pace, and you'll discover a loyal companion who loves his people and enjoys simply being part of their lives. Red has good house manners and is happiest living a quieter, relaxed lifestyle. He's not looking for a home filled with constant activity, visitors, and excitement. He'd much rather have a predictable routine, a comfortable place to relax, and people who understand that earning his trust is part of building a relationship with him. Life With Red Red can live with respectful canine companions, but personality matters. He prefers dogs who understand personal space and aren't constantly trying to engage him. Pushy male dogs are not a good match. Cats actually seem to intimidate Red-he has been known to hide from them-so a home with cats would need to be considered carefully. Older children ages 13 and up may also be considered. Red's Perfect Home Red's ideal family will live in a relatively quiet, lower-traffic household and be willing to give him time to adjust without expecting too much too quickly. He needs people who understand that trust isn't always immediate. Once he knows he's safe, Red's loyalty and affection have the opportunity to shine. He isn't asking for a complicated life. He wants stability, companionship, and a family who won't give up on him because he needs a little extra time to feel comfortable. Red's past may have changed how quickly he trusts, but it hasn't taken away his ability to love or his desire to belong. Some of the strongest bonds aren't formed overnight.
