About DOLLY

Adoption Fee: $300
Pug / Pekingese
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

DOLLY is a gorgeous 5 year old, 22 pound Pug Pekingese (a Puginese!) mix who was surrendered by her owner. DOLLY is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being close to her person. She will follow you around the house, hang out in the kitchen while you cook, wait outside the bathroom door, and keep you company while you get ready for the day. She LOVES giving kisses, sometimes coming at you like a freight train to cover your whole face! Belly rubs are definitely the key to her heart. DOLLY does well with the other dogs in her foster home. She can be a little intrusive with other dogs and doesn't always understand personal space, but she seems interested in learning how to play with them. She will sit close while her foster sisters play and sometimes whine like she wants to join in but isn't quite sure how. She also looks to her foster sister for cues about what to do and gets a little FOMO if her foster sister is doing something without her. We think DOLLY could be happy with another dog or as an only dog where she gets all the attention. DOLLY can be timid when meeting new people but warms up once she feels comfortable. She is very food and treat motivated and may even check her foster sisters' bowls after dinner to make sure they didn't leave anything behind. A puzzle or slow-feeder bowl may be helpful for her. She wasn't very interested in toys initially but has started playing with them more and especially seems to enjoy playing catch with small tennis balls. DOLLY walks mostly well on a leash, although she is easily distracted and sometimes needs a reminder about which direction everyone is going. Because she can get so distracted outside, we would prefer a fenced yard for her. She does well going outside but occasionally needs a little encouragement. Car rides are an adventure for DOLLY! She gets very excited and wants to bounce around the car looking out every window, so she will need to be safely secured while riding. When her foster family is at work, DOLLY patiently waits on the couch watching the door for them to return. She hasn't been particularly vocal and doesn't bark much. At night, she wants to sleep in the big bed next to her person and has learned to use doggie stairs to get into bed. DOLLY is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, has had a Proheart12 heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
