Shelby is a beautiful 4-year-old blue merle Australian Shepherd who is looking for a home where she can truly enjoy being active and doing what Aussies do best. She is a **42-pound, athletic, intelligent girl** who absolutely loves playing frisbee, going for walks, running in the yard, and learning new things. She has an adorable smile and, once she feels comfortable with you, she is incredibly sweet, cuddly, and affectionate. Shelby knows several commands, including sit, wait, down, off, spin, 'give me five,' and come. She is a clever girl who enjoys games and training-she knows how to 'make a good choice,' plays the shell game, and even loves Easter egg hunts for dog cookies! She would be a wonderful companion for someone who wants an active dog and would enjoy continuing her training, agility, frisbee, or other activities that give her both exercise and a job to do. She is not okay with all people. She is reactive and has stranger danger. She likes most people once she decides they are fine and I would not have her with children as she has never been raised around kids and her being reactive and kids being unpredictable is not a good combination. She can be a little vocal when guests arrive, but with calm introductions and people simply giving her a little time to settle, she relaxes fairly quickly. She would do best as an **only dog**, as her current home has experienced some conflict between Shelby and another dog in the household. Importantly, she has not been raised around children, so her family is recommending an adult-only home where her needs and her herding-dog personality can be understood. Shelby is a smart, athletic, affectionate Aussie who has so much to offer the right person.
