Sky is a 3-month-old female Pit Bull mix who is about as sweet and gentle as they come. She is an incredibly submissive little puppy who can be a bit shy when she first meets someone, but once she realizes everything is okay, she quickly warms up and lets her playful, affectionate personality come through. Her evaluator described her perfectly as a 'very gentle and submissive player' who follows the cues of other dogs and is already a 'very well mannered puppy.' For such a young puppy, Sky already has a wonderful foundation. She is beginning to work on sit and will happily try when treats are involved. She is very food motivated, takes treats gently, and showed no finger nipping during her evaluation. She is also doing great learning how to walk on a leash. She didn't pull when seeing other dogs, people, or passing vehicles and was easily redirected with gentle leash guidance, verbal encouragement, or treats. Sky absolutely loves affection. During her sociability testing, she repeatedly asked for more interaction after being petted, and when toys were brought out, she was happy to play but seemed even more interested in getting loved on by her people. Her evaluator noted that she remained very gentle and mild-mannered throughout play. She was equally wonderful during handling and allowed her paws, legs, ears, tail, collar, shoulders, and body to be touched and handled without concern. She even tolerated hugs and someone standing over her, with the evaluator simply writing that she was 'totally fine!' Sky also showed no concerning resource guarding behaviors during her evaluation. She comfortably allowed the evaluator to interact with her food bowl during all three portions of testing and readily gave up or allowed a valued possession to be taken. No stiffening, growling, snapping, or other aggressive responses were documented. Her interactions with other dogs may be one of the sweetest things about her. Sky was introduced to three different dogs during her evaluation and remained friendly with each one. She wanted to approach and interact, but instead of barreling into play like many puppies her age, Sky was gentle and submissive and paid attention to what the other dogs were telling her. Her evaluator noted that she follows the other dog's cues, and her overall assessment was marked likely all-around dog friendly. Sky also met the office cat, Sunshine. She was curious about her but a little hesitant to approach and ultimately seemed more interested in the people in the room than the cat. She was easily redirected with voice or treats, and her final cat assessment was marked likely cat friendly. At only 3 months old, Sky is still very much a baby and will need a family willing to continue teaching her all the things puppies need to learn. Because she is such a soft, submissive little girl, she will benefit from patient, positive-reinforcement training that helps build her confidence while allowing her personality to blossom. Sky really is a lovely little puppy-gentle, affectionate, dog friendly, likely cat friendly, easy to handle, eager for treats, and incredibly sweet. She may start off a little shy, but give her a little time and love, and you'll quickly see the playful, loving puppy underneath.
