Unfortunately, due to a change in my family circumstances, I am looking for a loving new home for my dog. He has been part of our family for about 11 years. We adopted him from a shelter in Denver, Colorado when he was around 2 years old, and he is now approximately 13. He is a Labrador/Husky mix and is neutered. He is an incredibly sweet, gentle dog and has never had any issues with aggression. He has grown up around my two young children and has always been wonderful with them. Even at 13, he still has a playful side! He enjoys his toys and loves playing tug-of-war with the kids, but he is also perfectly happy lounging around the house and relaxing. He has a shy and timid personality, especially around people he doesn't know. Because of this, he would do best with someone who understands that he may need a little time to become comfortable. When visitors come over, he will often go into another room or the bathroom where he feels more secure. Once he is comfortable and someone gently introduces themselves to him, he is friendly and receptive to affection. He enjoys walks and can still enjoy longer walks, but he is happiest in quieter, more secluded areas. Busy streets, crowds and community events can overwhelm him, and he may try to pull away when frightened. A quieter home and neighborhood would be ideal for him. At home, he is very easygoing. He loves treats and especially enjoys home-cooked food. I often make him chicken breast with sweet potatoes and broccoli, as well as ground turkey or ground chicken. He is typically fed twice a day. Although he is a senior, he still has plenty of personality, playfulness and love to give. My hope is to find someone who can give him a peaceful, loving home where he can be well cared for and enjoy his senior years. I am rehoming him because my family's circumstances have changed significantly, and I am no longer able to give him the time and financial care that I feel he deserves. This is not because of any behavioral or aggression issues. He has been a beloved member of our family for many years, so finding a safe and caring home for him is extremely important to me. I would love for him to spend his senior years with someone who will love him, take him on his quiet walks, spoil him with treats and give him a comfortable place to call home. Photos and medical records are available. Thank you for considering giving him a loving home.
