Urgent Home-to-Home Placement Needed for Forrest - Akita Mix **Please read the entire post carefully before contacting us. Forrest is not suitable for every home.** Forrest is a **95-pound Akita mix** looking for an experienced, committed adopter who can provide him with a safe, structured, **dog-free home**. He is current on his vaccinations, knows basic commands, rarely barks, and can be incredibly sweet, loyal, quiet, and cuddly with people he trusts. Forrest needs an adopter who understands large, powerful dogs and is prepared to continue working with him through professional behavioral training and responsible management. He will need patience, consistency, secure handling, and an environment where he can be kept completely separate from other dogs. ### Important behavioral history Forrest previously attacked another dog. The injury was not fatal, but it was serious and required emergency veterinary care. Because of this history, he **must be placed in a home without other dogs**. He should not be taken to dog parks, dog daycares, or other situations where he could encounter unfamiliar dogs. This is not a situation to approach casually. Potential adopters must be honest about their experience, living situation, ability to manage a large dog, and willingness to follow strict safety precautions. Forrest's future depends on finding someone who can responsibly meet his needs. ### Why he needs a new home Forrest's current owner lives in an apartment and has limited financial means and space. Unfortunately, they cannot provide the environment, professional training, and long-term management Forrest requires. A home-to-home placement is being pursued as his last opportunity to avoid entering a shelter, where his behavioral history could place him at high risk for behavioral euthanasia. ### Time-sensitive deadline Forrest must be placed in an appropriate home by **October 15, 2026**. If a safe and qualified placement cannot be found by that date, the owner believes the only remaining humane and ethical option may be euthanasia. This deadline is not intended to pressure anyone into adopting Forrest. His safety-and the safety of people and animals around him-must come first. He will only be placed with someone who is genuinely qualified and fully prepared to manage his needs. ### Forrest's supplies and records He will go with: - Muzzle - Collar - Harness - Leash - Brushes - Bed - Remaining food - Microchip number - Veterinary records ### Adoption requirements The adoption process will include: - An initial meeting in **Greeley, Colorado** - A **$25 rehoming fee** - A signed transfer-of-ownership agreement - Official transfer of his microchip and veterinary records - A move-in/transition phase to help ensure the placement is safe and appropriate Forrest is not being placed on a first-come, first-served basis. The priority is finding an experienced adopter who has the appropriate home, resources, and commitment to keep him safe and separated from other dogs permanently. If you are seriously interested and meet these requirements, please provide information about your experience with large or reactive dogs, your household, your living environment, and how you would manage Forrest's dog-free and training needs.
