Meet Elmer !! This sweet boy has passed through a few homes due to no fault of his own. He came to us severely matted and overgrown, poor guy couldn't even see. Thanks to Amy at Pawpular Pets he's now feeling better and sporting the coolest goatee %9D%A4%8F Due to being bounced around a bit we sadly dont know much about his history. He's ready to find his forever home that's willing to make him a lifetime commitment. Elmer is an approx 3 year old, male. He weighs 14 pounds and is full grown. We aren't sure his exact breed. Likely some variety of poodle mix. He looks way bigger in some photos bc of the excessive hair matted on him. He's not a big guy at all. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is thankfully Heartworm negative and on preventatives. Elmer is a a very loving guy. He got his name from his foster who said he sticks by her like glue. He would love someone to follow around and hang out with. He's big on his cuddle time as well. He is doing great with his house manners and training. He is great in the car. He does fairly well on a leash. He has been really good with his potty training and goes to the door to alert you. He is crate trained but can be a little whiny at first. Elmer is fine with other dogs but doesn't care much about them. He's fine with or without a doggie friend. He loves people more than anything. He's basically indifferent toward dogs around him. He has never been around cats so we are unsure how he would do. He is sweet and loving to everyone including kids however we doubt he would enjoy a high energy home or small kids that have yet to develop dog manners. Respectful kids that don't treat him like a toy would be best. Elmer currently has a lower energy level but that could increase a bit as he becomes more settled. He has some spunky moments when he plays with his plush toys but isn't very hyper. He enjoys to sniff around the yard or just watch you doing whatever you're doing. He has not had any issues sharing toys or treats with humans or other dogs. He has always been fed separately so we aren't sure if he would share food with other dogs. He's fine about people around his food. Elmer is a very loving boy that will make an excellent companion for someone. He's been passed around to people unable to commit to his care and he's ready for a stable person or family to repay his loyalty. '%BC%8F|%8FHe will need regular grooming. This requires time to get him to and from the appointments and additional expenses to pay for it. On average a dog of this breed will need grooming every 6 weeks. This should be fully considered prior to applying to adopt him.|%8F'%BC%8F Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA.
