Meet Adalynn !! This beautiful lady is looking for an awesome new home. She has some stranger danger issues but once she knows you're safe she's a super fun, very loving shadow. Adalynn is a approx 4 year old female. She weighs 14 Pounds and full grown. Her shelter paperwork said shih tzu mix but to us, she looks more like a Pekingese mix. She will be spayed, be up to date on vaccines and microchipped as part of her adoption. She is heartworm negative and on monthly preventions. She was in rough shape when we got her and had itchy skin and a rash. After a few bathes and regular care that seems to be resolving quickly. Adalynn was left at the shelter by her family. She's was extremely scared and defensive. We decided to take a chance on her and she's done amazing! She needs someone willing to give her some time to adjust to you and anyone you introduce her to. If you can do that you'll be getting an extremely loyal and well behaved companion. We were told she hates men. She's definitely more fearful with men but the foster dad won her over quickly. It may just take a little longer with men. She has been very good with her training so far. She has done very well with potty training if taken out regularly. She will use potty pads overnight if she needs to go. She was perfect on all car rides. She does well with leash walking and loves walks. She is crate trained and sleeps overnight in her crate. She did so well adjusting to her foster home very quickly. Adalynn is a very fun small dog. She absolutely loves toys, bones, tug-a- war and fetch. She really wants a home where walks are daily as she loves to sniff around and explore. She loves being outside. She has a medium energy level. She needs playtime and exercise but is also very cuddly. She's okay with some other dogs. She's nervous with them at first and then she becomes bossy. She likes to be the alpha in the house. She also doesn't like to share her food or toys with other dogs. Being an only dog would be easiest but with the right companion dog she will likely do fine. We are not sure how she would do with cats. Adalynn has not been around kids with us. We think she may do well with older kids that can give her a lot of time and space in the beginning. She has not bitten anyone but if covered and scared she will try to bite. This needs to be considered when deciding if your children are capable of giving space. Also she does not like strangers for awhile. If you or your kids have friends over regularly that wouldn't be the ideal situation for her. She hasn't shown any issues sharing food, treats, or toys with humans. She doesn't share well with other dogs. She is very treat and food motivated. Her foster mom says she barks some but not excessively. Adalynn takes some time with new people but then she is attached to you. If you're willing to take a little extra time with her so she can trust you she's going to repay you with all the love. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA.
