About Max

Australian Cattle Dog / Basenji
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Running buddy? Hiking partner? Athletic dog seeks active family for lots of outdoor fun! Max is a 32-lb, 16-month-old bundle of energy who loves to snuggle when he's not outside playing. Max loves long walks or hikes and active games of tug and fetch. He may be a little shy at first but he loves to be with people and will climb right into your lap! He is crate-trained and can tolerate being left alone for several hours, but he would prefer to be with his human most of the time. Max is working on leash walking and still tugs a little, and he is sometimes afraid of noises or new experiences when out on a walk. He would do best in a home with a large, secure yard that is away from lots of City sounds. He has lived with cats and would probably be ok with a female dog of similar size who is calm but active and likes to play. Due to his high energy level, Max is probably not a good fit for young children, but he would do well with teens and adults. He needs an experienced owner who can set boundaries as he is still learning some manners, but Max tries hard to please and responds well to positive reinforcement and training. He's ready to work with a kind partner and will be a devoted and loving companion. We can arrange a Private Meet-and-Greet with the foster parent and your household with a completed application.
