About Otis

Meet the handsome Mr Otis, a 45lb, neutered purebred ACD from a breeder in Oklahoma (AKC registration will be transferred). He turned one in June 2026, and is now looking for his forever home! We have been fostering Otis since November 2025 and he's truly become the most wonderful sidekick! Unfortunately, we are a military family that moves often, and we already have two cattle dogs (Lara, 14, and Winnie, 2). Otis would thrive in a home with a family (fur friends would be great too!) with big spaces to run and play, and maybe even some cattle or a small farm to put his herding drive to good use! A family who knows the breed- their potential with the right training and understands their 'clingy' and 'talkative' nature! Otis is submissive to his two sisters, and often looks to Winnie for direction in scary, new situations he's not sure of. It's taken a lot of work but he now lets us give him good scratches and has even started to ask for belly rubs- but he will vocalize when he's had too much touching if he's over it! He's blossomed into a cuddle bug at night as well, often starting at our feet but he will end up side by side with us most nights. We call him Mr Drama because out of all three, he's the most dramatic about small things- a ball going missing, a toy falling off the couch, the water bowl being too low...he will let us know he's not happy with his yaps! He has been to a board and train program with All Dogs Unleashed and is e-collar trained. Feedback was he aims to please, is very trainable and is always looking for a job to do- he is very smart, but can be stubborn, so needs to be held accountable with ongoing training. He prefers to be off-leash, but unfortunately we live in an area with traffic so that cant happen all the time. He doesn't mind leash walks, but he would much prefer to chase a ball in the backyard. He came to us with a broken tail and scans when he was 8 months showed signs of hip dysplasia and irregular femoral crest (I can provide the scans). None of this has held him back in any way! We are not looking to rehome Otis in a hurry, and want to be sure that he's going to a safe, loving home where he can remain long term. Adoption fee to be sent to a cattle dog rescue group, details on this once adoption has been finalized.
