About Barnaby

Barnaby is a 14-year-old, 11-pound Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix who is basically a retired gentleman looking for someone to fund his fluffy-bed lifestyle. This handsome little man is the epitome of low key. Toys? Hard pass. Give Barnaby a ridiculously fluffy bed, a spot beside your feet, or better yet, your lap, and he is perfectly content. He is absolutely a lap baby and loves handing out kisses to his people. Don't let 14 fool you though. Barnaby still has plenty of spunk and gets around like a much younger pup. His favorite part of the day is when you come home, and he will happily lead the welcoming committee with that adorable little smile of his. Barnaby does wonderfully coexisting with other dogs and has great manners around food. He loves his crate, sleeps through the night, and is even happy to sleep in because retirement means no alarm clocks. He does have some separation anxiety and can be pretty vocal when left alone, but he doesn't tear things up or have accidents in his crate. He just really likes knowing his person is nearby. Barnaby is still recovering from skin issues and will need someone committed to keeping up with his grooming and care. He currently gets Pepcid for acid reflux and Zyrtec for itching. His potty habits also need a little patience. He has a tiny bladder, his cues are subtle, and he needs to get outside pretty quickly in the morning. Barnaby is sweet, easygoing, affectionate and ridiculously lovable. He's looking for a soft place to spend his retirement years with someone who appreciates a handsome little sugar daddy who loves fluffy beds, Greek yogurt, sleeping in and, most importantly, a good lap.
