'KODA', the Siberian Husky we have been fostering since April, 2026. 'ۢ Male, 4 yr. old Siberian Husky 'ۢ Neutered, chipped, current on vaccinations, flea/tick treatment 'ۢ 2 blue eyes, 87lbs. 'ۢ Has spent most of his days as an outdoor dog, but has been inside house for several hours at a time during thunderstorms or in extremely hot days. He loves hanging out on patio (semi enclosed) Disposition/Temperament: 'ۢ Not high energy or hyper (super chill), sleeps a lot 'ۢ He is a HAPPY boy 'ۢ Extremely SWEET and gentle 'ۢ Will play a bit with our dog or us, but only for a couple of laps around the small yard, then wants to lay down 'ۢ Walks on leash really well (retractable one) in our neighborhood 'ۢ Loads up into my SUV by slowly climbing one level to next and travels in car great 'ۢ Will walk into bldgs., but shakes when at vet. 'ۢ Chews on the Nylabone we gave him and never anything else in yard or patio 'ۢ Quiet, never aggressive 'ۢ He absolutely LOVES belly rubs! 'ۢ He loves a hand on him and affection, but wants all of it 'ۢ He gives affection with kisses if you ask 'ۢ He LOVES kids, so far over age 3yrs old tested, and so happy to meet them and allows them to hug on him, lay on him 'ۢ He does NOT dig or jump or escape yard 'ۢ He has allowed us to bathe him, brush him, even trim his nails (so gentle!) Habits/Likes: 'ۢ He eats his food laying down, and prefers it to be poured out on ground 'ۢ He LOVES our fluffy grass and rolls and lounges on it 'ۢ He sleeps in his dog bed, but prefers it to be at least in corner with 2 sides 'ۢ He loves getting treats 'ۢ He can sit and 'give paw' being motivated by treat 'ۢ He will howl only when an emergency siren goes by neighborhood 'ۢ Cools off in kiddie pool when hot Negatives: 'ۢ He tinkles a little when he gets nervous meeting or greeting a human male 'ۢ He sheds like a husky Best Match Recommendation: 'ۢ Be the only family dog if possible, and if not, then a female dog smaller than him 'ۢ Fenced yard with a place to look out (our has a gate which he lays in front to watch the happenings of neighborhood) 'ۢ Good with kids 'ۢ Be loved and given attention/affection 'ۢ Be allowed to be his super chill, lazy self (not a working farm/ranch dog) 'ۢ No cats or other males (I suspect) History: 'ۢ We found him in front of our house in our neighborhood in Hobbs, NM 'ۢ He was so sweet and exhausted from wandering, he just came over and laid on the grass in our front yard and nearly fell asleep 'ۢ He was full of ticks, no collar, no tags, but well fed 'ۢ We were compelled to keep him for a night and try to find owners next day, but to no avail after posting around 'ۢ Took him to get scanned at Hobbs animal shelter and chip registered to a lady who said she had him at about 8 months old until 3 years old 'ۢ Former owner called him 'LOBO' and she gave him to her neighbor because her husband was working long hours, they had another dog, and he killed the family ferret. After giving him to neighbors, she hadn't seen him in a year 'ۢ Her neighbor were renters and they packed up and left and abandoned him 'ۢ Registered chip owner did not want him, so she came in with her 5 year old son to fill out paperwork to surrender him to shelter 'ۢ I was able to speak to her about his history 'ۢ He started in Lovington, NM with his first owner who got injured in a fire and couldn't keep the puppy anymore 'ۢ It was her husband that ended up taking him and he continued with puppy behaviors and apparently attacked the cat, I think she never wanted him, but it was her husband that did 'ۢ Her little boy loved on him while we were chatting at shelter Our experience with him is that he has not exhibited any of those behaviors, and suspect he has grown out of them. He is super easy because he is so chill. We absolutely love him but cannot keep him. We are college track and field coaches and travel A TON! We LOVE him and have enjoyed him a lot. He is so incredibly easy and sweet! We do, however, need to get him to his new family as soon as possible.
