CODE RED! X URGENT, SHELTER IS FULL, ON DEADLINE AND POSSIBLE EUTHANASIA FOR 9/14- NOW ADOPTABLE, BUT MAY NEED RESCUE AND THUS A FOSTER TO SAVE HIS YOUNG LIFE! Did fine with female dogs DOWNEY, CA- LOS ANGELES COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL- ID #A5796303- 'TOOZ' aka 'MOCHI'- A RARE BRINDLE YOUNGER CHOW BOY IN NEED OF A SAVVY HOME, OR FOSTER AND RESCUE ASAP- FRIENDLY BUT SHY - NEEDS PLACEMENT ASAP- 72 hr issued 9/11 of pending euthanasia This dear boy was said to be found as a stray and walked into the shelter. Sadly, his owner never came, or the finder was his owner; either way, he seems to have been dumped. The shelter named this handsome boy Tooz, although we had originally called him Mochi on Facebook. We understand he weighs 59 lbs and the shelter has estimated he's only 2 years old. Despite having very positive notes, the shelter just added him to the euthanasia list with a 72 hr warning notice issued 9/11. Shelter notes state, 'Tooz is a playgroup helper dog' They also state, 'Tooz was in the play yard prior to the assessment and was given time to decompress. Tooz displayed a relaxed body, open mouth pant, loose tail wag, natural ear set, and soft eyes. Tooz approached the handler soliciting petting from them with a loose wiggly demeanor. The handler was able to examine Tooz's ears, mouth, abdomen, back, lower extremities, and tail with ease. Tooz maintained a loose wiggly demeanor throughout the assessment and continued to solicit petting afterward. Tooz could benefit from basic manners training. Tooz is ok for public adoption medium energy level female dogs only required.' PLEASE CHECK OUT HIS ADORABLE VIDEO IN THE COMMENTS SECTION OF THIS POST! Further medical and behavior notes can be requested. While he had no apparent medical issues, nasal discharge was noted on 9/8 and he was placed on antibiotics (Doxy). If you can adopt in person, please contact the shelter immediately at (562) 940-6898- and ask for him by ID. If you need further help, please also contact us to connect you to the right people at the shelter though. Listing link: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/LACO/A5796303 Due to his urgency, he may need a rescue though, and thus a foster, as most rescues need a place for a dog to go! Therefore, if you can potentially foster, or foster to adopt, through a rescue, or if you need further help, please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network asap. We can refer you to a rescue group to hopefully save him in time. IF YOU ARE A RESCUE: PLEASE EMAIL DOWNEY ANIMAL CARE CENTER STAFF at: [email protected] and provide his ID and ' do not euth' on subject line. Please also call. We will be posting additional information updates, pictures and video as we receive such on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/783968124/posts/10169602954903125/?mibextid=wwXIfr Note: to view contents of links you will need to copy and paste each one separately into your browser.
