About Maximus (Max)

Max is an absolutely wonderful dog. He was abandoned near our house, and actually trapped himself inside our fence getting to our females that were in heat. He's since been neutered, vaccinated (might need updates), chipped and we've had him almost 2 years. He loves attention, but he will also stay with you whenever you're out working and doing things, just sitting within eyesight. However, if you have other dogs prone to running off, he will likely follow, but on his own, he hasn't run off on me when working around the property. He loves to go between my legs and be given a good head/ear/body massage. He does bark to alert you of people or animals coming to the residence, but doesn't bark for no reason. He's been good with our cats every time he's been inside or outside with me. He's also been good with our mini goats and chickens as long as I'm around. He did kill a chicken one day when he was out overnight, but as long as I'm out with him and let him know that's off-limits, he leaves them alone. I'm sure he could be taught to leave them alone permanently by exposure. He's such a wonderful dog, and we love him dearly, but we have a total of 4 dogs and are overwhelmed by the cost and time required to give them the care they deserve. I would only want Max to go to a home experienced with large dogs and who has the time and money to take care of him, thus the adoption fee to prevent him from going to dog fights or a home that cannot afford to care for him.
