Larger than average mini size Trained and knows/listens to commands Blue eyes This is an incredibly difficult decision for our family because we love Eli so much. We have had him since he was 8 weeks old, and he has been a huge part of our family ever since. Eli is extremely affectionate, loyal, smart, and loving. He loves to cuddle, loves being with his people, and is very well trained and listens well. With adults, he is truly an amazing dog. Unfortunately, now that we have a young toddler, we've realized that our home is no longer the best fit for him. Eli does not do well with young children, and he can also be reactive/selective with unfamiliar dogs. He currently lives successfully with our French bulldog, so he is not necessarily unable to live with another dog, but any future dog match would need to be considered carefully. His other main needs are typical of an Australian Shepherd - he has a lot of energy, can be vocal/bark, and does best when he gets regular exercise, walks, attention, and stimulation. We think Eli would be absolutely wonderful in an adult home or a family with older children/teenagers, particularly someone who is active and wants a very affectionate companion. We would especially love for him to have a yard to enjoy and someone who will walk him regularly. We have previously invested in professional training for Eli and want to be completely transparent so that his next home is a permanent, happy fit. Our biggest priority is finding someone who will genuinely love him. We strongly prefer a direct home-to-home placement rather than a shelter and are willing to travel for the right person or family. We are happy to answer questions honestly, provide vet records and additional information, share photos/videos, and arrange a meet-and-greet. This is heartbreaking for us and is absolutely not because we don't love Eli. We love him enough to recognize that he needs an environment that is better suited to him.
