About Kilo (Kee-low)

Kilo is a sweet, eager 7 year old Husky who has had a rough go of things. I adopted him at 2 1/2 after he'd been surrendered to shelters by two different owners. He'd already had hip surgery and had a history of seizures. I was a single 25 year old who lived alone and decided to take him on as my running buddy, of which he is a fantastic sidekick. He showed signs of food agression and defensive behaviors with other dogs, but never aggression towards children or humans. The issues started within the last year. I got married, we moved across the country, and we adopted two cats. All of these changes have made him somewhat unpredictable. He has attacked the cats on multiple occasions, sending one to the hospital with a severe bite wound, and then very recently, he mistook me for a cat and bit me in the face, sending me to the ER with a bite wound dangerously close to my eye. I have taken him to the vet and am waiting to have him evaluated by an animal behaviorist, but I can't afford extensive behavioral therapy for him. I'm afraid the home I've made for myself isn't the home he originally felt happiest in and so I've decided to try and find him a new one. The person who adopts Kilo needs to live in a home with no other animals and no children. It is also imperative that you understand his unpredictable nature and that he has a human bite history. He's beautiful, with one blue eye and one brown eye, and his markings are very unique, but he is a high maintenance animal that requires an owner who is dedicated to his mental health. I hope you'll consider accepting the challenge because he's made me very happy for 5 years and I'd love to see him be happy for many more.
