Name: Phoebe Age: 4.5 years Breed: French Bulldog, @30 pounds Sex: Female (not spayed) Location: Douglas County, Illinois Phoebe was an Amish breeder that was turned over to a vet's office due to her medical condition. Vet employee took her on as a foster. Vet Info: Phoebe was used as a breeder dog and not properly cared for. She developed a fungal infection - Blastomycosis which caused Phoebe needing to have both eyes removed. Phoebe has not yet been spayed, vet wants to make sure that she no longer has any infection to prevent a flare up. Phoebe is microchipped, up to date on her vaccinations and HW-. She is at a healthy weight, in good health and has no respiratory issues. She is on regular flea & tick and heartworm preventatives. Dog Info: Because Phoebe has been a breeder raised in a cage, housebreaking has been somewhat unsuccessful. Owner will need to be patient. Phoebe is leash trained and knows the command: Time for bed which means go find your crate. Phoebe does not get along with other dogs and should be the only dog in the home. She should also not be in a home with young children. Phoebe doesn't like interacting with other dogs and will become protective of herself. She does this by lunging, growling, snapping and trying to bite. She is a very dominant dog that would pick fights with other dogs if they have something that she perceives as hers. Foster has a cocker spaniel that they hoped Phoebe would become a companion for but the cocker spaniel trusts Phoebe less and less because of her outbursts. Because of this, as much as both dogs like to play with toys, all toys had to be removed from the home. Phoebe also will lunge, growl or try to bite young children unprovoked. No home with dogs or young children will be considered. Phoebe does well with adults. Phoebe also adapts well to new surroundings. Phoebe does well with cats. Phoebe is extremely brave and very curious. She is very affectionate and playful once she learns that she can trust a person. She loves to be in the room with her humans. She is not an overly active dog, prefers to be in her bed curled up and napping or chewing on a toy. She loves to explore her yard, lay out in the sun but is not a big fan of walks.
