About Chester

Adoption Fee: $200
Schnauzer mix
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Chester is estimated to be about 10 years old and weighs 16 pounds. His owners both passed away so we have limited info on his past but it was obvious on intake that he hadn't seen a vet in a long time. A relative took him in but she later became homeless and let a friend keep Chester for her. But then the friend decided they didn't like him so Chester spent the past several months in a 10 x 10 outdoor pen with minimal care. When we got him he had a fatty tumor, several large annoying moles, a cyst by his ear, and some pretty bad dental issues. All of that has been resolved and Chester is HW Neg and has no ongoing medical needs! He recovered from surgery nicely in a loving foster home and is a perfectly healthy little man. Since coming to his Foster Home, Chester has shown us more of his personality. He's good with other dogs but it takes him a lot longer to trust the ones that are bigger than him and he won't share his bed ever. Chester will run full force at a cat and there's no way to deter him from that chase so he's best in a home without feline friends. Chester is perfectly crate trained. He has never once made a mess in his crate while his foster mom is at work or overnights. He will shred a potty pad if you put one in there but he's just telling you that he doesn't need those when he's in his crate. He's also been potty pad trained but his aim is awful so he wears a belly band. (Chester has a large supply of washable belly bands that will go home with him.) He never bothers with the bands but as mentioned, does not need them when in his crate, just when loose in the house because he will mark like a typical boy and frequently misses the pads even though he's trying. Chester is an absolute angel when leash walking. He loves to go outside and go for walks. He's well behaved on car rides and friendly to any stranger he meets. He does have significant hearing loss so he will require either a fenced yard or an owner who will commit to leash walking him regularly. He's mostly deaf but can hear loud noises and does seem to ignore us if he's more interested in looking at something else. Chester will put his little feet up on you as if hugging you and try to kiss you any chance he gets. This little guy is super sweet and loving. Chester's ideal home will have a mom and/or dad who is home most of the time and committed to spending as much time as humanly possible with this little boy in their laps. He can be pretty vocal, barking when he wants something but what he wants most is to be up in your lap. If you think this little guy would fit perfectly in your lap, please fill out an adoption application using this link: https://form.jotform.com/80595190554159 If you don't think he's a right fit, pease share his adoption ad and help us find this guy the Happily Ever After he so deserves!
