About Dale & Derek

Dale & Derek are siblings who make up our 'Step Brothers' (movie) litter. These two boys were born outside to a stray cat and were fending for themselves after something happened to their mom. When they were rescued, they were very underweight, dehydrated and scared. They have been in one of our foster homes receiving lots of TLC & tasty food, and have been working on their social skills. They're now ready for adoption and are looking for their perfect family. Dale is an orange tabby with white and Derek is black and white. They are a bonded pair and are looking for a home together. They have a great little friendship and LOVE chasing each other around and exploring together. Although these two are brothers, they have fairly different personalities that balance each other out. Derek is very well adjusted, follows his foster mom around the house, is chatty and likes to tell you about his day, and he loves cuddling. He's okay with being picked up/held, although he doesn't like be carried around for long. He has a lot of energy and loves to play. He is definitely the more dominant of the two brothers. Dale is comfortable co-existing with people but he's not as social with humans as he is with other cats. He really enjoys playing with his foster mom and will participate when she's using a wand toy, laser pointer, or any toy/item that allows some distance between them. He really loves playing, especially something he can give a good swat. When Dale isn't playing, he'll hang out within 1-2 feet of his foster mom, but he is nervous about handling and does not want to be picked up. He is quite food-motivated so using Churu and treats or tasty canned foods are helpful for bonding with Dale. He's very sweet & gentle and certainly comfortable exploring. However, he is nervous of loud sounds and fast movements. This pair is looking for an adult-only home with someone who has experience working with shy cats. They will not be a suitable pair for someone who is new to cat ownership. They are not comfortable around children. We haven't seen this pair around other cats during their time with us, however, we believe they would be happy in a home with a friendly cat. They may learn to live with a quiet, calm dog if introduced properly. However, they will not do well around a high-energy dog or one that barks regularly because Dale is nervous of fast movements and loud sounds.
