About Widget

Widget is 11 months old and weighs 10 pounds, He is already operating at full professional heart-stealer capacity. This rough coat Brussels Griffon is tiny, adorable, and ready to find a forever family that will love him as fiercely as he plans to love them right back. Widget came into rescue from a breeder/hoarding situation, so he missed out on the usual puppy starter pack: toys, snuggles, confidence, and discovering that humans are basically treat-dispensing furniture with feelings. But this little guy is catching up fast. He is learning that people can be kind, gentle, and patient; that belly rubs are not a trap; that soft beds are one of life's greatest inventions; and that the safest place in the world is often right next to his person. New people and new experiences still require a careful Widget inspection process, but once he decides he is safe, he is all in. Widget gets along well with his similar-sized foster brother and sister, who are kindly showing him the ropes of family life. With their guidance, along with plenty of patience, encouragement, and consistency from his humans, Widget is learning how to be a beloved family pet. He has also appointed himself Assistant to Foster Dad and takes his job of following him everywhere very seriously. On the house-training front, Widget is proudly showing that he has the assignment under control. He potties outside consistently, and because he is still a puppy, consistency will help him keep earning gold stars. Bonus feature: he will use a potty pad when needed, because Widget believes in having options. Widget is still working on his leash skills, so he needs a physically fenced yard. Think of it as his confidence-building adventure zone: a safe place to explore, exercise, and practice being brave without accidentally launching himself into the great unknown. Once you earn Widget's trust, congratulations: you have unlocked loyalty, companionship, adoration, and a tiny shadow who thinks you hung the moon. Watching him grow in confidence has been incredibly rewarding, and with each new positive experience, he will continue blossoming into the brave little gentleman he was always meant to be.
