LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY - Within a one hour drive to Pensacola, FL EMMY LOU was born into rescue on July 6th and can go home on September 9th. Her mom, LAINEY, is an 11 pound Chihuahua who came to us from a shelter after being found as a stray. We did not know that she was pregnant when we agreed to take her, but we are glad we took her so she could have a safe place to give birth to her beautiful babies! Emmy Lou is 4.72 pounds with a super-soft, medium-length coat and the cutest curly-haired ears. She is the shy one of the group, except when she's with her litter mates, and would love a furry friend in her new home to keep her company. She's perfectly content hanging out with her people and soaking up all the attention. Emmy Lou is a typical happy, busy puppy. She likes to play with her litter mates and fur siblings, chasing, wrestling and playing with toys until it's time to crash for a nap. She has recently started sleeping through the night and is doing well with potty-pad training, although she is still a baby and it remains a work in progress. By the time she can go home, Emmy Lou will have had two of her three puppy shots and will be microchipped with a lifetime registration. Her third puppy shot will be given approximately 3 weeks after her go home date and is covered by the rescue. PLEASE NOTE: Emmy Lou is NO PAWS ON THE GROUND until approximately 12 weeks of age, after she has received her final Parvo vaccination. Until then, her new family will need to be especially careful about where she is taken and avoid taking her outside. We highly recommend investing in a puppy pen to keep her safe inside when she cannot be supervised. Her spay will be scheduled at one of our vets when she is old enough and is also covered by the rescue. Because she has pending vet appointments, Emmy Lou is local adoption only, which is within a one hour drive to Pensacola. *To meet or adopt, you must first submit an adoption application for review. We adopt within a 6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally (within 1 hour to Pensacola).
