LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY - Within a one hour drive to Pensacola, FL Meet JONAH! This scruffy puppy was born into rescue on July 6th and can go home on September 9th. His mom, JOURNEE, is a Shih Tzu who was found as a stray. When no owner was located, she came to us. Imagine our surprise when we took her to her initial vet visit and found out she was pregnant! Obviously, we do not know who the dad is. JONAH currently weighs about four pounds and is a handsome brindle boy. He is the most independent of his litter and enjoys hiding from his foster mom when she goes to put him back in the play pen. He loves to play with his litter mates, chasing, playing tug-of-war and wrestling. He plays hard and then crashes, often joining his foster mom on the couch for a nap before getting up to do it all over again. JONAH loves being around people and happily greets his foster mom when she comes home or lets him out of the pen in the morning. He is also in the puppy stage of thinking toes and pant legs make excellent toys! He is not yet consistent with potty pads when he is out of his pen and, like all puppies, will need continued potty training in his new home. JONAH is very interested in playing with the other dogs in his foster home. Because he enjoys canine companionship so much, we believe he would be happiest in a home with a young, playful dog who would enjoy having a little buddy. By the time he can go home, JONAH will have had two of his three puppy shots and will be microchipped with a lifetime registration. His third puppy shot will be given approximately 3 weeks after his go-home date and is covered by the rescue. PLEASE NOTE: JONAH is NO PAWS ON THE GROUND until approximately 12 weeks of age, after he has received his final Parvo vaccination. Until then, his new family will need to be especially careful about where he is taken and avoid taking him outside. We highly recommend investing in a puppy pen to keep him safe inside when he cannot be supervised. His neuter will be scheduled at one of our vets when he is old enough and is also covered by the rescue. Because he has pending vet appointments, JONAH is local adoption only, which is within a one hour drive to Pensacola. *To meet or adopt, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
