About Jasper

��%BD��%BD%90%BE PLEASE HELP US FIND JASPER THE RIGHT HOME ��%BD��%BD%90%BE Writing this is incredibly difficult for our family. Jasper is a sweet, loving soul who deserves a chance with someone who has the experience, time, and resources to help him succeed. Unfortunately, despite the training we have pursued, Jasper continues to struggle with a strong instinct to guard food and certain high-value items. In those situations, he has bitten, and we want to be completely transparent about that history. This is not a decision we are making lightly. We love him deeply, and it pains us even to be considering rehoming him. We truly feel Jasper has been failed by the training approaches we have tried, and we hope to find someone who understands resource guarding and can provide the specialized behavioral training and structured environment he needs. Jasper has already completed a three-week intensive boarding and behavior-training program with a local professional facility. While he learned many things, his food/resource guarding remains an issue that needs continued professional attention. Outside of those situations, Jasper has so much personality and love to give. ��%BD��%BD%90 About Jasper: ��%BD'� He is crate trained and stays in his crate when we are not home. ��%BD'� He has a funny, mischievous personality and has been known to throw a tantrum if left to his own devices-local newspapers may suddenly become confetti! ��%BD'� He loves other dogs and cats. ��%BD'� A secure fenced yard is strongly preferred unless his new family is prepared to work extensively on boundary and recall training. ��%BD'� Because of his bite/resource-guarding history, children should only interact with Jasper under close adult supervision, and an adult-only or highly experienced home may be the best fit while he continues training. ��%BD'� His ideal adopter would have experience with resource guarding, behavioral rehabilitation, or working with dogs who need additional structure. We are not asking for an adoption fee or donation. This is not about money. Our only goal is finding the right person or family who can give Jasper the opportunity, training, patience, and understanding he needs. We are looking for someone who will see the wonderful dog beyond this behavioral challenge and who is willing to work with a qualified trainer or veterinary behavior professional to help him safely move forward.
