MINDI WAS TAKEN INTO THE SHELTER AFTER WE WERE TOLD HER OWNER SURRENDERED HER WITH NO FURTHER INFO GIVEN. SHE IS ALREADY LISTED AS 'RESCUE NEEDS' WHICH CAN EXPEDITE HER TO THE RED/EUTH LIST ANYTIME, BUT SHE CAN STILL BE ADOPTED OR RESCUED. We met at the park. She barked and growled at strangers. Was not aggressive though. In fact she let me touch her teeth lol. She did ok with the dogs at the park. She barked and growled. Sadly but not surprising, as many chows are scared of strangers and do poorly in a shelter environment, the shelter told us, 'At the time of impound, Mindi is noted as 'an owner surrender that is available and located at the Western Riverside County Animal Shelter in Jurupa Valley. They have been marked 'Needs Rescue - Behavior'. No negative medical notes at this time. Staff report A1935319 is stiff, tail flagging, low growling, and alarm barking. They are in immediate need to exit the shelter but do not have a deadline at this time. This can change at any time.'
