Meet Biscuit - A Loyal Blue Heeler Looking for His Next Adventure Breed: Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) Sex: Male Age: 5 (turns 6 on September 29) Location: Madison, WI area About Biscuit Biscuit is a handsome, classic blue heeler with a striking coat: a blue-grey speckled body, a sleek black mask and ears, and warm tan-and-orange markings on his cheeks, eyebrows, chest, and legs. He has soft amber eyes, sharp alert ears, and a fluffy tail that gives away his mood. He's a medium-sized, athletic dog with the sturdy build the breed is known for. He's a true heeler at heart - smart, attentive, and devoted to his people. Biscuit spends most of his time indoors these days and is comfortable as a house dog, but he absolutely loves to run. Give him a yard to stretch his legs in and he's the happiest dog in the world. He'd thrive with someone who enjoys being active outside or who has room for him to burn off that cattle-dog energy. Biscuit has had training and knows several basic commands. He's the kind of dog that wants a job and a person to focus on, and he bonds deeply. What he needs in a home We want to be upfront so Biscuit lands in the right place the first time: A home without small children. Biscuit is protective and watchful, and we don't think a household with young kids is the best fit for him. Adults or a family with older, dog-savvy teens would be ideal. Space to run. A fenced yard is strongly preferred. He's calm indoors but needs regular outlets for his energy. Patience with the doorbell. He still barks when someone comes to the door - typical heeler alertness. He's very manageable, but a quiet apartment with lots of foot traffic isn't his best match. Heeler experience is a plus. If you've had a cattle dog before, you already know how rewarding they are. Why we're rehoming him This is a hard decision and not one we're making lightly. We recently welcomed a baby, and Biscuit's protective nature and door-barking (which wakes the baby) have made it clear that our home is no longer the best environment for him. On top of that, I have allergies to dogs. He deserves a home where he can be the center of attention again, with the space and activity he loves.
