About Hazel

Hello, I'm Hazel! I am about 3.5 years old. I was rescued by my parents from Greater Birmingham Humane Society in August 2023. At that time, I had a lot of trauma to work through - especially with adult men and cars. I've made a ton of progress, especially when I get the exercise I need through play, hikes, walks, and runs. I live with a smaller corgi who I MUST be the dominant one over - especially protecting my food and kennel, but I like to play with him and other dogs when I'm not anxious. I'm really snuggly with my people and can warm up to guests if they respect my boundaries. Adult men I don't know, and cars, if they sneak up on me still scare me. I'm VERY smart and energetic, and very trainable. My parents had a baby 6 months ago, and I'm respectful and curious about the baby, but I don't like older children because of their unpredictability. I need a new home because my parents have tried for over a year to figure out their work schedules and my training/exercise needs, and it just isn't working. They have gotten my rehabilitation from anxiety started, and I'm ready for someone who will take me all the way. I am a very fun and snuggly dog for the right person who will be patient with me and commit to exercising me!
