Paisley is a 2-year-old spayed Pit Bull mix who came to us as a stray. She is a sweet, gentle girl who really enjoys being around people and is still learning some of the basics of being a family dog. Paisley loves affection and calmly seeks out more attention when being petted. She did wonderfully with full-body handling during her temperament evaluation, remaining comfortable while her paws, ears, tail, mouth, collar and body were handled. She even tolerated hugs without a problem! Paisley is food motivated, takes treats gently and already knows sit when treats are involved. She showed no concerning behavior around her food bowl and was much more interested in eating than worrying about what her handlers were doing. She is a FAST eater, though, so a slow feeder would probably be a great addition to her future home! She also enjoys toys and has a very gentle, polite play style. She can be a little hesitant at first, but once she realizes it's playtime, she starts to come out of her shell. When asked to give up a valued toy, Paisley initially wanted to play a little keep-away but eventually allowed it to be removed without showing aggression. Paisley would be happiest as the only dog in her home. She can become unsure and overwhelmed during interactions with other dogs, particularly when they are more forward or playful. She'd much rather skip the canine roommates and soak up all the attention herself! She did much better with a more relaxed male dog than she did with the hyper female dog. This could definitely be due to the shelter environment so it could change once in a home and is able to fully decompress. She did very well during her cat evaluation. Paisley showed minimal interest in our office cat and kittens and was actually a little hesitant to approach them. She was easily redirected and showed no fixation. She is considered likely cat-friendly, with slow and supervised introductions recommended. Overall, Paisley is a sweet, affectionate, gentle girl who just needs a family willing to give her love, consistency and a little help learning the things she may have never been taught. If you're looking for a loving companion who would be perfectly happy having her humans all to herself, come meet Paisley! https://www.oconeecountyga.gov/forms.aspx?FID=80
