Star is a Pacific Parrotlet adopted in 2013 - her approximate age is roughly 15 years old, making her a senior parrotlet. Currently we're looking for someone who can give her some proper daily attention, ideally in a home free of cats or dogs; she is currently in a home with cats and it can make it difficult to take her out safely for extended periods of time. Her diet consists of a 50/50 mix of Zupreem pellets and Volkman's parrotlet seed, and daily fruits/veggies - her favorite veggies are pea pods, she will also eat cooked lima beans, but she can be really picky about other fruits/veggies. She is very shy and does not like to be taken out of her cage when you initially put your hand in the cage, but once she is out she will sit on your thumb and nestle into your hand as long as you make a C shape with your hand (sits on thumb with the rest of the fingers curled over her back). She will sit on your shoulder so long as she thinks it's secure and she can hide there either against a hoodie hood or long hair. She doesn't like being handled much but is tolerant of it and gets better about it the longer she is handled. She enjoys being out of her cage on play surfaces and likes when other people are around, and will chirp for attention when she's alone, and start chirping excitedly when someone enters the room. Her chirps are very quiet and pleasant sounding compared to most other birds. She likes to fly, and even if she flies away from you, she will always let you pick her up again without an issue. Her favorite toys are bells. Currently while everyone is at work, she will have television played for her in the background - her favorite shows are Bluey, Kim Possible and Avatar: The Last Airbender. There was an attempt to keep her with other parrotlets many years ago, but she is very submissive and the other parrotlets would bite her and bully her - it's possible she would do well with another parrotlet of a similar shy or submissive demeanor, but it's unclear. Adoption fee is set higher due to wanting to find someone truly dedicated to her care.
