About Louie

URGENT RESCUE OR ADOPTER NEEDED - LOUIE, 7-YEAR-OLD CHIWEENIE - LIVERMORE, CA Louie is a sweet, approximately 19-pound Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who urgently needs a safe permanent home or reputable rescue placement. Louie originally lived with elderly owners whose declining physical and cognitive health left them unable to care for him. Ownership has now been formally transferred, he has recently seen a vet and is up to date on all of his shots as of July 2026. Louie is a true Velcro dog-a devoted little lap dog who bonds deeply with his person and wants to remain close. Once he chooses you, he loves you wholeheartedly. Because Louie can become protective of his favorite person, he may bark when someone approaches them. He has no known bite history, but he needs a calm adult who who can give him structure and understands this behavior. A quiet, adult-only home without young children would be the best fit. Louie gets along with other dogs, but his current foster home includes several much larger dogs who have become increasingly aggressive toward him. The conflicts are escalating, and we are deeply concerned for his safety. This is why his placement is urgent. Louie just needs one safe person who will understand his sweet little heart and give him the security he has been missing.
