POV: You've been at the shelter for a month hoping for the best only to find out you're back to square one and could end up losing your leg :O That's Vonya's current predicament & she needs everyone's help to avoid that devastating scenario @followers @highlight Vonya was owner surrendered to the shelter on 7/20/26 after she was struck by a vehicle and her dad was unable to afford medical expenses for a broken front left leg Vonya suffered from the accident. Initially, the shelter had high confidence that the leg would heal properly with splinting and proper cage rest. However, her latest recheck revealed the break has not healed properly and surgery now needs to be pursued �%A0to avoid amputation :( Needless to say Vonya has been through a lot, she has been just as hopeful as staff & volunteers that the shelter would help see her broken leg be restored enough to find her way to the adoption floor and have a chance at a new home... And now those options will be one leg shy unless she finds help! Vonya continues to remain on strict cage rest while receiving pain management at the shelter, but the extent of his injuries have now been confirmed to exceed resources available at the shelter. Vonya requires a more thorough examination / orthopedic consultation for receiving surgery prior to leg amputation performed at the shelter. Due to the extent of Vonya's injuries and time-sensitive nature of a rescue organization pursuing surgery, Long Beach Animal Care Services is seeking immediate rescue placement for Vonya with pick up no later than end of day Wednesday September 9th 2026.
