X URGENT! DOWNEY, CA- SEAACA KILL SHELTER-ID #27-02188- 'SIR CHARLES' HANDSOME BUT NEGLECTED 38LB BOY LISTED AS A YOUNG CHOW X, LOOKS MORE PUREBRED. SOON TO BE ON THE EUTH LIST - NEEDS SAVVY, RESPONSIBLE HOME, OR FOSTER AND RESCUE ASAP! Please help us find a chow savvy or forever home (or foster and rescue) for this very handsome, but neglected boy found as a stray on 8/21. His owner never showed and he has met his legal retention and is now at great risk. The shelter told us he was found high fly strike on his ears and fur loss on his rest, indicating utter neglect. He was also just under 38 lbs at intake, much smaller than most male chows. We are unclear if he was starving. The shelter estimates this cboy is 1- 3 years old and is a smaller chow. We are calling him 'Sir Charles' and we are trying to find placement asap, as he is expected to be on a short deadline and the euth list soon, unfortunately, we only have limited information from the shelter shortly after he came in and had a catch pole used on him. The shelter said, 'handle slowly, skittish, showing teeth, barking, lunging, safety pole used to vaccinate, appears to have fur loss on rear, appears to have fly strike.' We feel he will decompress once he feels safe. We are hoping to get video. Due to his needs, we are looking for a foster now we can refer to as rescue to save him in time, as most rescues need a place for a dog to go. We are unclear if he can also be adopted directly from the shelter, but we can also refer potential adopters to a rescue group to help to foster to adopt and assist if needed, or if he is made Rescue only (and only allowed to be released to a rescue group).
