At only 10-months-old, puppy LION, a beautiful exotic mix between a Labrador Retriever and a German Shepherd, couldn't possibly understand why the only family he's ever known suddenly dropped him off at the horrific high-kill pound in New York City. Before leaving him behind to die, his former 'owners' filled out a form, explaining that they just had a baby - as if that somehow justified LION's abandonment, especially when they stated that LION was always so gentle when he was around the infant. In great detail, they described LION as highly intelligent and a quick learner, and how he excelled in obedience training, already knew at least a dozen commands, and absolutely loves experiencing new things. They loved watching him discover the beauty of snow and ice for the first time, and described how their puppy was filled with wonder and excitement. They also described LION as perfectly housetrained, playful and vivacious, and how he absolutely loves to be around his people. LION is a loving young dog who deserves a chance to feel safe and loved in a new home with a real family who will always appreciate him for the things his former caretakers described so enthusiastically but gave up so callously. Please don't let LION's story end so tragically in a cruel and uncaring city kill pound. Please open your heart and home to LION and become the rescue hero he desperately needs and truly deserves. LION is neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and in perfect health. Be sure to hit the YouTube button above to see LION's video, made by the volunteers in the kill pound who love him.
